Default Snow tires as rain tires?

Here is a video of one of Burt Schmitz's runs at the April 17 autocross. He was trying out using snow tires in the wet conditions. Keep an eye at the G meter, he hit 1G!

Temps that day got in the upper 40s. Summer tires lose grip pretty fast below 50F, so if it was 35F that might have been more of a useful advantage.

The tread depth works against you -- the Pirelli Sottozeros have 11/32 tread depth. This creates some unusual handling abruptness. For example, when the car starts to push and you try to regain control by unwinding the wheel, you get the grip back all at once.

I bought these tires because my Michelin PS2s are really bad in the cold and in New Hampshire it is cold for many months. I didn't buy the Sottozeros to drive in the snow, so I should get these things shaved to 6/32nd tread depth and try again!
